John Lewis is a chain of department stores (46) in the United Kingdom. The first John Lewis store was opened in 1864 in Oxford Street, London. Its slogan is "Never Knowingly Undersold". And... This year its Christmas advert has arrived: it tells the story of a little girl, Bridget, who loves jumping. Her mum and dad buy her a trampoline for Christmas: it is a surprise. Do you like listening to songs in English? I think so, and it is a great way to improve your learning. This is a song by Rod Stewart, a famous English singer, born in London. He is very rich and ... very mean. Some years ago,for Christmas, he gave his friend Elton John a mini fridge (about 200 euros) and received a painting by Rembrandt (about 12000 euros)in return. Two years later, Rod got married and Elton John´s gift was a £ 10 (about 12 euros) voucher from Boots. On the card he wrote, “Get yourself something nice for the house". PICTURE 1: Rod Stewart. PICTURE 2: Elton John
